Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I schedule an appointment?
A: Navigate to our “schedule” tab on our website. Click here for our scheduling page. If you are a brand new patient, you may choose a consultation call or initial evaluation. If you are a returning patient, you may schedule the appropriate follow up visit.
Q: Do I need a prescription or referral to be seen for an appointment?
A: No. In Ohio, we participate in “direct access”. This means you can be seen for physical therapy without a referral.
Q: Do you take my insurance?
A: No. We do not directly bill insurance, and are considered “out of network” with all insurance companies.
Q: Why do you not take my insurance?
A: At Gait Keeper Physical Therapy we highly value YOU and your outcomes with treatment. By not accepting insurance, we can insure you high quality ONE on ONE care always. You will never share your appointment time or be just a number.
Q: Do you have a cancellation / no-show policy?
A: Yes. At Gait Keeper Physical Therapy we ask that you please cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. If cancellations or rescheduling occurs within this time, 50% of your visit cost will be charged. We understand that “life happens”, and exceptions will be made at Gait Keepers’ discretion.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept all major credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, check, and cash (exact change only).
Q: What should I expect at my first visit?
A: You can expect to receive a 60 minute comprehensive assessment with a doctor of physical therapy including discussion about your current injury state, medical history, and any other important information. The assessment will include physical tests and measurements to gauge your strength, mobility, cause of pain and more. You can also expect to receive your first treatment session in this time.
Q: What should I wear to my appointments?
A: Please wear comfortable clothing you feel you can move well in. Shorts, T-shirts, sweats, and hoodies are all good options. Tennis shoes or closed toe shoes are preferred.
Q: Will I be in pain after my visit(s)?
A: Some soreness or discomfort is very common after a physical therapy visit. Dr. Alina will help guide you on what is “normal” after each session.
Q: Is dry needling included in my visit cost?
A: Yes. Dry needling is included with your visit cost.
